Sherri Ogden BHEc

Sherri was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. From a very early age, she appreciated art in many different forms. She is an accomplished vocalist, dressmaker, jewler and photographer.

Her love for design all started at the age of 5. She loved dolls and spent hours making outfits and playing with paper cut outs. At the age of 12 she started sewing in Home Economics class in school. She excelled at it and soon was out-sewing the entire class. Her mother noticed her talent and quickly bought her a sewing machine which fueled her passion. In 1987 she obtained a Bachelor of Home Economics degree with a major in Clothing and Textiles and a minor in Business Administration from Mount Saint Vincent University. She immediately moved to Toronto after graduating and apprenticed under master tailors to improve her skills. After three years passed, she returned to Halifax to start her own business. She owned her own tailor and dressmaking business for several years and eventually went into crafts and clothing design. Her products were soon found in many giftware and retail outlets in the Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, Canada.

In 2003, Sherri developed a keen interest in photography. She quickly used all of her background in design to develop and nurture this new art form. She gathered information and quickly grasped the technical aspects of photography. However, photography is more than snapping a picture. Sherri has a natural ability to capture photos that express the elements and principles of design with little effort. Her photos are unique and an expression of her love for natural beauty in all that she sees. None of her photos are ever altered; they are exactly what she sees at a single moment in time. In fact, she feels altering the photos in any way would take away from the purity and beauty of what she intended. Sherri listens to her market and gives the public what they want while still showing the beauty and elegance she captures in her photography. Her love of Nova Scotia landscapes and flora is evident in her work. Her photographs have traveled to the Ukraine, Japan and the United Kingdom to name a few places.

You will find a large selection of products that encompass Sherri's photography. She offers traditional matted and framed photos as well as greeting cards, bookmarks and fridge magnets. Her philosophy is that art as a whole should be accessible to everyone and her products are reasonably priced to reflect this. You can find her original photography in many retail outlets throughout the Maritime Provinces. Sherri welcomes inquiries from potential new vendors as well as the general public.
